Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes during the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring pupils remain focused and engaged with the work provided. You will manage classroom behaviour, support learning and maintain a calm and purposeful environment throughout the school day.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to gain further experience within a secondary school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes and deliver work set by the absent teacher.

  • Maintain a calm, orderly and productive classroom environment.

  • Manage pupil behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Support pupils with their learning and encourage positive engagement.

  • Provide appropriate feedback to teaching staff where required.

  • Follow school procedures and maintain high expectations of pupil conduct.

  • Ensure pupils remain safe and focused throughout lessons.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Confident communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • A calm, reliable and organised approach.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider school team.

  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils and their education.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
