Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Doncaster
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Do you have the patience and understanding to help young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) overcome barriers and take an active part in learning?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Doncaster. We are keen to hear from individuals who can recognise different learning needs, provide appropriate support, and help students become more confident and independent throughout their education.
The Special Educational Needs TA works alongside teaching and support staff to make learning more accessible, providing additional guidance to learners who need help with academic, social, or personal development.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support based on individual learning needs
- Help students understand instructions and complete classroom activities
- Adapt learning materials and tasks where additional support is required
- Encourage young people to communicate, participate, and work independently
- Support positive behaviour and help maintain consistent classroom routines
- Monitor progress and share relevant observations with teachers and SEN staff
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
- Understanding of Special Educational Needs and different learning barriers
- Patient and supportive approach to working with individual needs
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to work effectively within a school team
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
