Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting skilled and creative Design and Technology Teacher to work with schools in Barnsley. We welcome qualified educators who can make practical learning interesting, introduce students to different design methods, and encourage them to develop solutions through planning, making, and testing.
The D&T Teacher will have the opportunity to make learners build technical knowledge, creative thinking, and practical abilities through engaging projects and hands-on activities.
Design and Technology Teacher Responsibilities:
- Teach Design and Technology lessons across relevant subjects and year groups
- Introduce students to different materials, tools, and production methods
- Guide learners from initial ideas and sketches through to completed products
- Demonstrate safe and correct use of workshop tools and equipment
- Encourage young people to review their work and identify ways to improve it
- Assess practical projects and written tasks and provide useful feedback
DT Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
- Previous experience teaching Design and Technology within a secondary school
- Good knowledge of D&T materials, processes, and practical techniques
- Understanding of workshop health and safety procedures
- Strong communication, planning, and classroom management skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
