Job Title: Geography Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting knowledgeable Geography Teacher to work in inclusive schools across Barnsley. We want qualified teachers who can make geographical concepts relevant and engaging while encouraging pupils to question, investigate, and understand the world around them.
The Geography Teacher creates meaningful learning experiences that strengthen pupils’ knowledge of physical and human geography while developing their analytical, research, and geographical enquiry skills.
Geography Teacher Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lessons covering physical, human, and environmental geography
- Connect geographical topics with current events and real-world examples
- Develop pupils’ map-reading, data interpretation, and geographical enquiry skills
- Use varied assessments to measure understanding and identify areas for improvement
- Prepare learners effectively for coursework, assessments, and examinations
- Contribute to fieldwork opportunities and wider departmental activities
Geography Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
- Previous experience teaching Geography within a school setting
- Strong knowledge of the Geography curriculum and relevant assessment requirements
- Ability to make complex geographical topics accessible to learners of different abilities
- Effective planning, communication, and classroom management skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
