Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting organised and approachable Attendance Officer to work with welcoming schools in Sheffield. This position would suit individuals who can manage attendance records carefully, communicate confidently with families, and work with school staff to identify and address attendance concerns.

The Attendance Officer plays a key role in monitoring attendance, following up on absences, and helping young people maintain regular participation in school.

Attendance Officer Responsibilities:

  • Record and monitor daily attendance and absence information
  • Follow up on unexplained or repeated absences promptly
  • Contact parents and carers to discuss attendance when necessary
  • Identify patterns that may indicate ongoing attendance concerns
  • Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to support individual students
  • Produce accurate reports and keep attendance systems up to date

Attendance Officer Requirements:

  • Previous experience in education, administration, pastoral support, or a similar role is desirable
  • Strong organisation and record-keeping skills
  • Good communication skills when dealing with families and school staff
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Good attention to detail and confidence using computer systems
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
