Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to work across schools and specialist educational settings in Scarborough and the surrounding areas. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access learning and participate fully in school life. You will work closely with teachers, SEND professionals, and pastoral teams to create a supportive environment where every learner can make meaningful progress.
Main Responsibilities as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND, adapting your approach to their individual needs.
- Assist teachers with differentiated learning activities and personalised interventions to help pupils access the curriculum.
- Support students' academic, social, emotional, and communication development while encouraging greater independence.
- Promote positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies to help pupils remain engaged and regulated during learning.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide observations and feedback to teachers and the wider support team.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where pupils feel valued and supported.
SEND Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational, care, or support setting is desirable.
- An understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH, or Speech and Language needs is advantageous.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
