Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a patient and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant looking to support young people in overcoming behavioural barriers and achieving their potential?
GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work across a range of supportive and inclusive schools in York. We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and dedicated support professional who can build positive relationships with students, encourage positive behaviour, and help create a calm and productive learning environment.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant will provide targeted classroom and pastoral support to students who may experience behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties. We are looking to recruit a Behaviour Teaching Assistant who can act as a positive role model, respond calmly to challenging situations, and work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to help students engage successfully with learning.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, resilience, and engagement with learning
- Assist teachers with implementing individual behaviour support strategies and classroom routines
- Help students develop confidence, social skills, independence, and positive relationships
- Monitor student behaviour and progress, sharing relevant observations with teaching and pastoral staff
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, SEMH, SEND, or additional needs is highly desirable
- Understanding of positive behaviour management and strategies for supporting emotional regulation
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
