Job Title: SEN Support Worker
Location: Hartlepool
Pay Rate: £90 - £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Do you have the patience and understanding to help young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) feel secure, involved, and confident at school?
GSL Education Newcastle Branch are seeking dedicated SEN Support Worker to work with fabulous schools in Hartlepool. The role would suit individuals who can respond to different additional needs, build positive relationships, and provide practical support that helps learners take part in school life.
The SEN Support Worker provides individual assistance to students who may need extra help with learning, communication, behaviour, or everyday school routines.
SEN Support Worker Responsibilities:
- Provide individual support based on each learner’s specific needs
- Help students take part in lessons, activities, and daily routines
- Encourage young people to develop communication and social skills
- Support learners in becoming more confident and independent
- Follow individual support plans and strategies provided by the school
- Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to maintain consistent support
SEN Support Worker Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in an educational setting or similar
- Awareness of different Special Educational Needs and how they can affect learning
- Patient and understanding approach to providing individual support
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work responsibly as part of a wider school team
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
