Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Pay Rate: £90 - £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are recruiting confident and understanding Behaviour Support Assistant to work with amazing schools in Stockton-on-Tees. We welcome applications from individuals who can build trust with young people, encourage positive choices, and provide consistent support when students experience difficulties during the school day.
The Behaviour Support Assistant helps learners improve their behaviour, manage challenging situations, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.
Behaviour Support Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide individual support to students experiencing behavioural difficulties
- Help young people understand expectations and make better choices
- Encourage learners to remain focused and involved during lessons
- Use positive strategies to manage challenging situations calmly
- Support students with developing social and communication skills
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent guidance
Behaviour Support Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Understanding of positive behaviour management approaches
- Confidence responding calmly to challenging behaviour
- Ability to build professional and respectful relationships with students
- Patient, reliable, and able to work effectively within a school team
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
