Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work across a range of inclusive and supportive schools in Scarborough. We are looking for a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic support professional who is passionate about helping students with Special Educational Needs overcome barriers to learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide personalised support to students with a range of additional learning needs, working closely with teachers and wider support teams to promote inclusion and engagement. We are looking to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with young people, respond sensitively to individual needs, and contribute to a safe and nurturing learning environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual students' learning needs
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, learning resources, and targeted interventions
- Support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, communication difficulties, or SEMH needs where appropriate
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and active participation in learning
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant observations with teachers and support staff
- Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive environment that promotes student wellbeing and achievement
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational, care, or similar setting is highly desirable
- A good understanding of Special Educational Needs and inclusive support strategies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- A patient, empathetic, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
