Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you help improve school attendance and ensure young people receive the support they need to stay engaged with education?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking organised and approachable Attendance Officer to work with amazing schools in Sheffield. We are keen to hear from individuals who can manage attendance information accurately, communicate effectively with families, and work with school teams to address attendance concerns.
The Attendance Officer supports regular school attendance by monitoring records, identifying patterns of absence, and helping students and families overcome barriers that may affect attendance.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily attendance and maintain accurate absence records
- Identify students with repeated or concerning patterns of absence
- Contact parents and carers regarding attendance issues when required
- Follow up unexplained absences in line with school procedures
- Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to address attendance concerns
- Prepare attendance reports and update relevant school systems
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Previous experience in a school, administrative, pastoral, or similar role in an educational setting or similar
- Good organisation and record-keeping skills
- Confidence communicating with young people, parents, and school staff
- Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially
- Good computer skills and attention to detail
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
