GSL Education is recruiting passionate and resilient SEMH Teachers to join specialist schools in Lewisham from September. We have several exciting full-time opportunities available, with a particular demand for English and Maths Teachers with SEMH experience, although applications from teachers of all subject specialisms are welcome.
These roles are ideal for educators who are committed to making a lasting difference to the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Experience working with students who have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that support students' academic and personal development.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies and a trauma-informed approach to teaching.
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching within secondary education or specialist settings.
- A subject specialism in English or Maths is highly desirable, although all subject backgrounds will be considered.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or traumatic backgrounds.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm, consistent, and compassionate.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
