Salary Scale: £174.70 to £270.94 per day (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring enthusiastic SEN Teachers to work across specialist and inclusive educational settings in York and the surrounding areas. As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons that enable students with additional needs to access learning and make meaningful progress. You will work closely with teaching assistants, SEND professionals, pastoral teams, and families to create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every learner is supported to succeed.
Main Responsibilities as an SEN Teacher:
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that respond to the individual academic, communication, and developmental needs of students.
- Create a structured, inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
- Adapt teaching methods, resources, and learning activities to support students with a range of SEND.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, using evidence to inform future planning and interventions.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SEND professionals, parents, and external agencies to support individual outcomes.
- Promote students' social, emotional, and personal development alongside their academic progress.
SEN Teacher Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification, with relevant SEN experience.
- Previous experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in a specialist or mainstream setting.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching approaches and effective behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting students with complex and diverse needs.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
