Job Title: PE Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking enthusiastic PE Teachers to work in vibrant schools across Barnsley. We want to hear from qualified teachers who can deliver enjoyable and inclusive PE lessons while encouraging teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyles.

The PE Teacher is going to support students in developing physical skills, confidence, and teamwork through engaging lessons and a wide range of sporting activities.

PE Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons across different sports and activities
  • Encourage pupils of all abilities to take part and develop their physical skills
  • Teach the importance of teamwork, fair play, and positive attitudes
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide clear feedback to support improvement
  • Maintain a safe and well-organised environment during practical activities
  • Support school sports clubs, competitions, and other extracurricular activities

PE Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
  • Previous experience teaching PE within a school setting
  • Good knowledge of the PE curriculum and a range of sports
  • Ability to motivate and engage pupils with different levels of ability
  • Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
