Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning? A supportive school in Rotherham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support and help pupils make meaningful progress.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. Your day-to-day work may include one-to-one and small-group support, assisting with classroom activities and helping pupils develop their confidence, communication and independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.

  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.

  • Adapt support to meet individual pupils' needs and learning styles.

  • Encourage pupils to participate confidently in lessons and school activities.

  • Support pupils with communication, behaviour and emotional regulation where appropriate.

  • Promote independence and positive engagement with learning.

  • Monitor pupil progress and share relevant feedback with teaching staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is advantageous.

  • A patient, calm and supportive approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.

  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential.

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
