Job Title: Computer Studies Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting enthusiastic Computer Studies Teachers to work in schools across Barnsley. We are keen to hear from teachers who are passionate about helping pupils build confidence in computing, coding, and digital technology.
The Computer Studies (CS) Teacher provides purposeful learning experiences that strengthen pupils’ understanding of computing while encouraging logical thinking, digital confidence, and responsible use of technology.
Computer Studies Teacher Responsibilities:
- Teach basic programming through simple coding tasks and projects
- Help pupils understand how computers, networks, and digital technology work
- Help learners solve problems using logical thinking and computing skills
- Teach pupils how to use the internet and digital tools safely and responsibly
- Check pupil progress through practical tasks, written work, and projects
- Help pupils prepare for exams and support wider department activities
Computer Studies Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
- Previous experience teaching Computer Studies, Computing, or ICT within a secondary school or similar
- Strong knowledge of programming, computer systems, and relevant digital technologies
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to pupils with different levels of ability
- Effective classroom management, planning, and assessment skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
