Job Title: Math Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

Can you make mathematics engaging, accessible, and meaningful for pupils of different abilities?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking for dedicated Mathematics Teacher to work with amazing schools in Barnsley. We welcome applications from qualified teachers who can explain mathematical concepts clearly, challenge pupils to think independently, and build confidence in numeracy and problem-solving.

The Math Teacher will have the opportunity to create structured learning experiences that strengthen mathematical understanding while encouraging pupils to approach problems with confidence, accuracy, and logical thinking.

Math Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach a broad range of mathematical topics in line with curriculum requirements
  • Use practical examples and varied teaching methods to explain challenging concepts
  • Set appropriate learning goals for pupils with different levels of mathematical ability
  • Analyse assessment results to identify strengths, gaps, and areas requiring further support
  • Provide focused preparation for GCSE examinations and other formal assessments
  • Encourage mathematical discussion, reasoning, and independent problem-solving in lessons

Maths Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
  • Previous experience teaching Mathematics within a secondary school
  • Strong subject knowledge across the relevant Mathematics curriculum
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible way
  • Effective planning, assessment, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
