Job Title: Geography Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking for enthusiastic Geography Teachers to work in schools across Barnsley. We would like to hear from qualified teachers who can make Geography interesting and easy to understand while helping pupils build knowledge, curiosity, and confidence.

The Geography Teacher supports pupils in understanding physical and human geography while developing their research, map-reading, and problem-solving skills.

Geography Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach engaging Geography lessons for different year groups
  • Explain physical and human geography topics in a clear and simple way
  • Use maps, images, data, and real-world examples to support learning
  • Help pupils develop research, enquiry, and map-reading skills
  • Check pupil progress and provide helpful feedback on their work
  • Support pupils with revision and preparation for assessments and exams

Geography Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
  • Previous experience teaching Geography in a secondary school
  • Good knowledge of the Geography curriculum
  • Ability to make lessons interesting and suitable for different abilities
  • Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
