Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to join amazing schools across Barnsley. This opportunity will suit the individuals who enjoy working with young people, providing practical learning support and helping pupils of all abilities participate and progress in the classroom.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will contribute to pupils' progress by providing targeted assistance, encouraging positive learning habits, and helping maintain an inclusive and productive classroom environment.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Guide individuals and small groups through learning activities to strengthen their understanding
  • Prepare classroom materials and resources according to teachers' instructions
  • Encourage learners to approach tasks independently and develop effective study habits
  • Provide additional assistance to pupils who experience difficulties with particular areas of learning
  • Observe pupil participation and communicate relevant progress information to teaching staff
  • Contribute to a respectful classroom environment by modelling positive attitudes and interactions

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build productive relationships with learners
  • Patient and attentive approach when providing individual learning support
  • Confidence working collaboratively with teachers and other education professionals
  • Flexible and organised approach to changing classroom needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
