GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring dedicated Advanced Teaching Assistants to work across schools in Selby and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant who is ready to take on greater responsibility and play an active role in supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and wider support teams to deliver targeted learning support, interventions, and personalised assistance. You will help create an inclusive environment where pupils can develop confidence, independence, and the skills they need to succeed.

Main Responsibilities as an Advanced Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of learning needs.
  • Support teachers with lesson delivery, differentiated activities, and the implementation of personalised learning strategies.
  • Deliver agreed interventions designed to improve pupils' academic progress, confidence, communication, or social development.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, resilience, and active engagement in learning.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide detailed feedback to teachers and relevant support staff.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment that supports pupil wellbeing.

Advanced Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with responsibility for targeted interventions or additional learning support.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
  • A confident, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
