Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £92 - £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently searching for dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistants to work across schools in York and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant looking for flexible supply work, a long-term placement, or a position that could lead to a permanent role.
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide effective classroom assistance and targeted support. You will help pupils access learning, develop confidence, and make positive academic and personal progress within a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils engage with learning and develop key skills.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, learning resources, and the effective delivery of lessons.
- Support pupils who may have additional learning needs or experience barriers to learning.
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation, confidence, and independence throughout the school day.
- Monitor pupils' engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations and feedback with teaching staff.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that supports pupil wellbeing.
Level 2 Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- A relevant Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with different needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
