GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring dedicated Teaching Assistants to work across schools in York and the surrounding areas. Whether you are looking for flexible day-to-day work, a long-term placement, or a permanent opportunity, we can help you find a role that suits your experience and career goals.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to create positive learning experiences for students. You will provide classroom and individual support, helping pupils access the curriculum, stay engaged with their learning, and develop academically, socially, and personally.

Main Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students, helping them engage with lessons and complete learning activities.
  • Assist teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive classroom activities.
  • Support pupils who may experience barriers to learning, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and active participation in the classroom.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide useful feedback to teachers and other support staff.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that promotes student wellbeing.

Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
