Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently looking for enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools and specialist educational settings across York and the surrounding areas. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, working closely with teachers and SEND professionals to ensure every learner can access the curriculum in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Main Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs, adapting your approach to meet individual learning needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and implementing personalised learning strategies and intervention plans.
- Encourage students' academic progress while promoting their confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support positive behaviour management and help create a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment.
- Monitor student progress, record observations, and communicate effectively with teaching staff and the wider SEND team.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
SEN Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in an educational, care, or support setting is desirable.
- A good understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Speech and Language Needs, or SEMH is advantageous.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach to supporting learners with diverse needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
