Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work across secondary schools in York.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, or professionals looking to transition into education. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during teacher absences and ensuring students remain engaged and focused throughout the school day.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, manage classroom behaviour, and create a positive learning environment where students can continue making progress. No lesson planning or marking is required, making this an ideal role for those seeking classroom experience.
Core Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise lessons using pre-prepared teaching materials provided by the class teacher
- Maintain positive classroom behaviour and ensure students remain focused on their learning
- Support students with classroom activities and respond to general questions where appropriate
- Record attendance and provide feedback to teaching staff following each lesson
- Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety policies at all times
- Adapt confidently to different subjects, year groups, and school environments
As the Ideal Cover Supervisor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, coaching, youth work, mentoring, or a similar setting
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Confidence leading groups of students and maintaining a positive learning environment
- A calm, flexible, and professional approach to behaviour management
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to new situations
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people to achieve their potential
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people in a relevant setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
