SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £100 - £130 per day
Start Date: Sep 2026
Contract: Daily/Long Term Supply

GSL Education is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work at some of the outstanding schools in Basingstoke. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN TA who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

As a SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. Whether you are looking for daily supply or a long-term role, this SEN Teaching Assistant position offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to make a real difference every day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Support pupils with their learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Help pupils build confidence, independence, and communication skills.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and other professionals.
  • Record and report pupil progress where required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a SEN TA or supporting children with special educational needs.
  • A caring, patient, and positive approach to working with children.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A good understanding of different special educational needs and effective support strategies.
  • The ability to remain calm and flexible in a busy school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEN are desirable but not essential.
