Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring Youth Workers to work within a specialist and supportive educational setting in York. We are looking for caring, resilient, and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop positive relationships, and build the confidence and life skills needed to succeed.
Youth Worker Role:
The successful Youth Worker will work alongside teaching and pastoral teams to provide targeted support for students with a range of social, emotional, behavioural, and additional learning needs. We are looking to recruit a Youth Worker who can build trusting relationships, promote positive behaviour, and encourage students to engage confidently with their education and personal development.
Youth Worker Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and active engagement in learning
- Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills
- Promote positive behaviour and implement agreed behaviour support strategies where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, parents, and external professionals to support individual student needs
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing educational environment that promotes student wellbeing and achievement
Youth Worker Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in youth work, education, social care, or a similar support role is desirable
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs is advantageous
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people from diverse backgrounds
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
