Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for an energetic, resilient, and dedicated Sports Coach to work within a specialist educational setting in York.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals from sports, coaching, or fitness backgrounds who are looking to apply their transferable skills in education. While the role carries the title Sports Coach, the work is primarily school-based, supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. You will help promote positive behaviour, encourage engagement in learning, and support the social, emotional, and personal development of young people.
About the Role:
As a Sports Coach, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide classroom assistance, behaviour support, and targeted interventions for students with a range of additional needs. Through your positive attitude and coaching skills, you will help create an environment where learners feel motivated, respected, and able to achieve their full potential.
Core Responsibilities of the Sports Coach:
- Support students in the classroom, promoting engagement, participation, and positive behaviour
- Build positive relationships with learners through encouragement, structure, and consistent support
- Deliver and assist with physical activities that promote teamwork, confidence, and wellbeing
- Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs using positive behaviour strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet individual learner needs
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment throughout the school day
As the Ideal Sports Coach, You Should Have:
- Experience in sports coaching, fitness instruction, youth work, or a related field
- Confidence working with children or young people in group and one-to-one settings
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
- A calm, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting learners
- Ability to motivate and inspire students with diverse learning and behavioural needs
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed both academically and personally
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people in education, coaching, or a similar setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
