Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist and supportive primary educational setting in York. We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and dedicated support professional who is passionate about helping pupils with a range of learning needs develop the confidence, skills, and independence to achieve their full potential.
Primary Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and the wider support team to provide high-quality classroom support and personalised interventions for pupils with additional learning needs. We are looking to recruit a Primary Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships, promote engagement in learning, and contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment.
Primary Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of learning and additional needs
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting learning resources to meet individual pupil requirements
- Support pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and SEMH needs where appropriate
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and active participation in learning
- Monitor pupil progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff and the wider support team
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes pupil wellbeing and achievement
Primary Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a primary, specialist, or educational support setting is desirable
- Knowledge of supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs is highly advantageous
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
