Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time

Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently recruiting dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to work in secondary schools across York and the surrounding areas. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, SEND professionals, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for students who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. You will play a key role in creating a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards education.
Main Responsibilities as a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with behavioural, social, emotional, or additional learning needs.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to promote engagement and self-regulation.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support teachers in maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor student behaviour and progress, providing accurate feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.
- Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and external professionals to support individual behaviour plans where appropriate.
Behaviour Support Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a behaviour support, mentoring, pastoral, or educational setting is desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and behaviour management skills.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
