Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Behaviour Mentor to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in York. We are looking for a patient, proactive, and dedicated individual who is passionate about helping students overcome behavioural challenges, improve engagement, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
Behaviour Mentor Role:
The successful Behaviour Mentor will provide targeted support to students who require additional guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. We are looking to recruit a Behaviour Mentor who can build positive relationships, act as a consistent role model, and work collaboratively with school staff to create a safe and productive learning environment.
Behaviour Mentor Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to students with behavioural and emotional needs
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement through consistent support and encouragement
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual behaviour plans alongside teaching staff
- Help students develop confidence, self-regulation, and positive social skills
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers, pastoral teams, and parents where appropriate
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that enables students to thrive
Behaviour Mentor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, sports coaching, or a similar support role is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting young people with additional needs
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
