Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate, motivated, and dedicated Learning Mentor to work within a progressive secondary school in North Yorkshire.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting students' personal, social, and academic development. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and families, you will help learners build confidence, improve engagement, and develop the resilience they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
About the Role:
As a Learning Mentor, you will provide targeted support to students through one-to-one mentoring and small-group interventions. You will work with young people who may face barriers to learning, helping them develop positive attitudes, improve attendance, and make sustained progress throughout their education.
Core Responsibilities of the Learning Mentor:
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring to support students' academic, social, and emotional development
- Help students overcome barriers to learning by promoting confidence, resilience, and positive engagement
- Encourage good attendance, positive behaviour, and independent learning skills
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and parents to support individual student needs
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of mentoring and intervention outcomes
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students can succeed
As the Ideal Learning Mentor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, coaching, or a similar support role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people
- Ability to build strong, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and families
- Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of learners
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive educational and personal outcomes
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
