Are you an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across a primary setting?
GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a welcoming and high-achieving primary school in York. We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and proactive education professional who is passionate about supporting pupils' academic, social, and personal development while working collaboratively with teaching staff.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will work as part of a supportive team, providing high-quality classroom support, delivering planned learning activities, and leading lessons when required. We are looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who can confidently support pupils of varying abilities, promote positive learning behaviours, and contribute to an engaging and inclusive educational environment.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher when required
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small group interventions to support pupil progress
- Assist teachers with lesson planning, classroom organisation, and the preparation of learning resources
- Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs, promoting inclusion and independence
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the wider school team to support positive pupil outcomes
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification, or significant experience in a similar role
- Previous experience supporting teaching and learning within a primary school setting
- Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
- Confidence in leading whole-class learning and delivering targeted interventions
- A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting pupils and colleagues
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
