Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking motivated Behaviour Support professionals to work in schools across Barnsley. This rewarding opportunity is suited to individuals who can provide consistent guidance, promote positive behaviour, and support pupils facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. By working closely with teaching and pastoral teams, you will help create a calm and inclusive environment where pupils can engage positively with their education.

The Behaviour Support professional encourages positive behaviour, supports emotional development, and helps pupils build the skills needed to participate confidently in school life.

Behaviour Support Responsibilities:

  • Encourage pupils to develop positive routines that improve engagement and classroom participation
  • Deliver tailored behaviour support sessions to meet individual pupil needs
  • Support teachers by implementing agreed behaviour management strategies consistently
  • Recognise early signs of emotional distress and respond with appropriate interventions
  • Promote resilience, self-confidence, and respectful relationships through daily interactions
  • Maintain detailed records of pupil progress and contribute to support planning

Behaviour Support Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, care, mentoring, or youth support
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when responding to challenging behaviour
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Reliable, adaptable, and committed to supporting positive outcomes for pupils
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
