Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are partnering with schools in Doncaster to recruit dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA). We would like to hear from caring and adaptable individuals who are committed to supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs. Working closely with teachers and SEN professionals, you will help create an inclusive learning environment where every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

The SEN Teaching Assistant supports pupils with diverse learning needs by adapting classroom activities, encouraging independence, and providing personalised assistance that promotes academic, social, and emotional development.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assist pupils in accessing lessons through tailored learning strategies and adapted resources
  • Encourage independence by supporting pupils to complete tasks with increasing confidence
  • Reinforce communication, social, and life skills during classroom and school activities
  • Help maintain a structured and positive learning environment that meets individual needs
  • Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised support plans
  • Observe pupil engagement and provide detailed feedback to inform future support strategies

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is advantageous
  • Good understanding of inclusive education and differentiated support techniques
  • Caring, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting individual learners
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with pupils and school staff
  • Strong communication, observation, and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
