Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in welcoming schools across Rotherham. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide personalised assistance that enables every pupil to succeed.
The SEN Teaching Assistant provides tailored classroom and one-to-one support, helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive educational and personal outcomes.
Responsibilities of SEN TA:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs both in and out of the classroom
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and follow guidance from teaching and SEN staff
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' specific needs and abilities
- Encourage communication, social interaction, and independent learning skills
- Assist with personal care or mobility needs where required and appropriate
- Record observations and contribute to reviews of pupils' progress and wellbeing
Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs in school settings or similar
- Understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive learning practices
- Patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting pupils
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, families, and external professionals
- Strong communication and observational skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
