Cover Supervisor
Location: Barnsley
Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education South Yorkshire are seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Barnsley, supporting students and ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff.
The successful Cover Supervisor will be responsible for supervising classes across a range of subjects, maintaining positive behaviour, and ensuring students remain engaged with the work set by the class teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, experienced education professionals, or individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience.
Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students complete assigned work.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and procedures.
- Create a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Support students with their learning and respond to questions where appropriate.
- Promote high standards of attendance, punctuality, and behaviour.
- Report on student progress, behaviour, and any issues arising during lessons.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other school professionals to support student achievement.
Requirements of a Cover Supervisor:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour confidently and effectively.
- Flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach to working in schools.
- A passion for supporting students and helping them succeed.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
