Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are working with schools in Sheffield to recruit organised and proactive Attendance Officer. This opportunity is suited to individuals who understand the importance of regular school attendance and can work effectively with pupils, families, and school staff to promote positive attendance habits.

The Attendance Officer promotes positive attendance by monitoring daily records, identifying concerns early, and coordinating appropriate interventions.

Attendance Officer Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily attendance records and investigate unexplained absences
  • Contact parents and carers to follow up on attendance concerns and provide appropriate guidance
  • Produce attendance reports and identify patterns requiring intervention
  • Work with pastoral staff and senior leaders to implement attendance improvement strategies
  • Maintain accurate pupil records in line with school procedures and data protection requirements
  • Support meetings with families and external agencies where attendance concerns arise

Attendance Officer Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an attendance, administration, education, or pastoral role is desirable
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communication skills when working with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and school information systems is advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
