Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a resilient, compassionate, and proactive Behaviour Mentor to work within a welcoming secondary school in North Yorkshire.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioural development. Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and families, you will help students overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement, and build the confidence and resilience needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support for students who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. Through positive relationships, structured interventions, and consistent encouragement, you will help learners develop self-regulation, improve attendance, and engage positively with school life.
Core Responsibilities of the Behaviour Mentor:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to support students with behavioural and emotional needs
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement through tailored intervention strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and families to support student progress and wellbeing
- Monitor behaviour, attendance, and engagement, maintaining accurate records where required
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and effective coping strategies
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students
As the Ideal Behaviour Mentor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, coaching, or a similar support role
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting learners
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, and families
- Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to individual student needs
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
