GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Speech and Language Graduate to work within a supportive and inclusive specialist educational setting in Scarborough. We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic, and motivated graduate who is passionate about helping children develop their communication, language, and social interaction skills while gaining valuable experience within education.

Speech and Language Graduate Role:

The successful Speech and Language Graduate will work alongside teachers and specialist support staff to provide targeted support for pupils with speech, language, and communication needs. We are looking to recruit a Speech and Language Graduate who can build positive relationships with children, encourage confidence in communication, and support pupils with a range of additional learning needs.

Speech and Language Graduate Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with speech, language, and communication needs
  • Assist in delivering communication-focused interventions under the guidance of teaching and specialist staff
  • Support pupils with SEND, including Autism and associated communication difficulties, to access learning effectively
  • Encourage the development of language, social interaction, confidence, and independence throughout the school day
  • Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teachers and the wider support team
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to promote positive outcomes for pupils

Speech and Language Graduate Requirements:

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Linguistics
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with speech, language, communication, and additional learning needs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to working with children and young people
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
