Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a caring and committed Teaching Assistant looking to support young people with additional needs in a rewarding educational setting?
GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist and nurturing educational setting in York. We are looking for a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic support professional who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual potential.
Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Teaching Assistant will work as part of a dedicated and supportive team, providing tailored classroom support to students with a range of additional learning and communication needs. We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with young people, encourage independence, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of additional learning needs
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and adapting resources where appropriate
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence both inside and outside the classroom
- Support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and SEMH needs where required
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff and the wider support team
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that promotes student wellbeing and achievement
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting is desirable
- Knowledge of supporting students with SEND and additional learning needs is highly advantageous
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people with diverse needs
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
