GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are working with inclusive schools in Sheffield to recruit dedicated Sports Coach. This is a dual-role position where you will combine Sports Coach and Classroom Support Assistant responsibilities. We would like to hear from individuals who are passionate about helping young people succeed by using their coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills to support learning, encourage positive behaviour, and build pupils' confidence in the classroom.
As a Sports Coach, you will become an integral member of the school team, supporting teachers throughout the day while helping pupils remain focused, engaged, and motivated. Your ability to inspire, communicate, and build trust will play a key role in creating a positive and productive learning environment.
Sports Coach Responsibilities:
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning
- Work alongside teaching staff to deliver effective classroom support across a variety of subjects
- Provide guidance to pupils who require additional encouragement with behaviour or engagement
- Support intervention sessions for individuals and small groups to improve learning outcomes
- Assist with classroom organisation, transitions, and daily school routines
- Promote a respectful, inclusive atmosphere where every pupil feels encouraged to participate
Sports Coach Requirements:
- Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth leadership, or a comparable role
- Experience motivating children or young people through structured activities
- Ability to remain calm and confident when supporting behaviour management
- Positive, adaptable, and reliable approach to working in a school environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
