Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are partnering with amazing schools in Barnsley to recruit dedicated Behaviour Support. This rewarding position involves working closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them build positive relationships, improve engagement, and develop the confidence needed to thrive in school.
The Behaviour Support professional will provide consistent guidance and encouragement, working alongside teachers and pastoral teams to promote positive behaviour, reduce barriers to learning, and create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
Behaviour Support Responsibilities:
- Develop positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and improve behaviour
- Deliver targeted support to pupils experiencing behavioural, social, or emotional challenges
- Work proactively with teachers to implement behaviour support strategies and individual plans
- Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and transitions throughout the school day
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive decision-making
- Record behavioural progress and communicate updates with relevant members of staff
Behaviour Support Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care, or a similar setting
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour using a calm and consistent approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable attitude
- Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
