Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for amazing schools in Rotherham. We are keen to hear from compassionate, adaptable, and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This rewarding role involves working closely with teachers to provide personalised support that enables every learner to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Special Educational Needs (SEN) TA will play a vital role in removing barriers to learning by delivering targeted support, encouraging independence, and helping create a safe, inclusive environment where pupils can thrive.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs
  • Adapt classroom resources and learning activities to meet individual learning requirements
  • Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, and positive learning habits
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement individual support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour while supporting pupils' emotional and social development
  • Observe pupil progress and provide accurate feedback to teaching staff

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEND, or additional learning needs
  • Caring, patient, and flexible approach to supporting individual pupils
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and school staff
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and equal learning opportunities
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
