Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact on students' learning and development?
GSL Education Hampshire & Dorset SEN branch are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Poole, providing valuable classroom support and helping pupils build confidence, independence, and achieve their full potential.
The successful Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and support staff to provide academic, social, and emotional support to students. You will assist with classroom activities, deliver targeted support to individuals and small groups, and help create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where every student feels supported.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with different learning needs.
- Assist pupils with classroom activities, educational tasks, and learning resources.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote student confidence and participation.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support students with SEND where required, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
- Assist with classroom preparation and organisation of learning materials.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to support student development.
Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's education, wellbeing, and personal development.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
