Teaching Assistant (TA)

Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support students in their educational journey?
GSL Education Hampshire & Dorset SEN branch are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Basingstoke.
The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to support students both inside and outside the classroom. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, assist with lesson delivery, and encourage pupils to develop academically, socially, and emotionally while promoting confidence and independence.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who require additional assistance.
- Assist students with classroom activities, learning tasks, and educational resources.
- Encourage positive behaviour and active participation in lessons.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Support students with varying learning needs, including those with SEND where appropriate.
- Prepare classroom materials and assist with lesson organisation.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student development.
Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
