Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking an Attendance Officer for welcoming schools in Sheffield. We are looking for organised, approachable, and proactive individuals who can monitor attendance, build positive relationships with families, and support schools in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality.
The Attendance Officer will play a vital part in improving pupil engagement by identifying attendance concerns, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to remove barriers to regular school attendance.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily attendance records and investigate unexplained absences
- Maintain accurate attendance data in line with school procedures
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding attendance and punctuality concerns
- Work closely with school staff to identify pupils requiring additional attendance support
- Prepare attendance reports and maintain confidential records
- Promote positive attendance initiatives while ensuring compliance with school policies
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Previous experience in an attendance, administration, education, or similar role
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communication and the ability to build positive relationships with families and staff
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally
- Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
