SEN Teacher
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Contract: Full-Time
Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
GSL Education are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Scarborough from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher, or a mainstream teacher looking to develop their SEND expertise, to support children and young people with additional learning needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering personalised learning, supporting pupil development, and helping every child achieve their individual potential.

About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication difficulties, complex needs, and developmental needs.
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel confident and supported.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to promote learning, independence, and engagement.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide consistent support.
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting learning approaches to support individual outcomes.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with children and young people with SEND.
- A strong understanding of personalised learning and adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
- Experience supporting pupils with communication needs, autism, complex needs, or additional learning needs would be advantageous.
- Experience using communication approaches such as PECS and/or Makaton would be highly desirable.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to create positive relationships and inspire confidence in pupils.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
