Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Scarborough from September.

This is a rewarding full-time opportunity to work with pupils within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1, supporting children with a range of additional learning needs in a welcoming, inclusive, and child-centred environment. The successful candidate will be passionate about early years education and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential through creative, engaging, and personalised learning.

About the Role

As a Primary Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive EYFS lessons that meet the individual needs of every pupil.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, adapting teaching strategies to promote engagement and independence.
  • Use a child-centred approach to encourage communication, confidence, and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and the wider school team to provide the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting planning to support individual learning journeys.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with nursery teaching experience highly desirable.
  • A passion for supporting children with additional needs within a specialist education setting.
  • Experience using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and/or Makaton would be highly advantageous.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
