Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist and supportive educational setting in York. We are looking for a caring, resilient, and proactive support professional who is passionate about helping students with Special Educational Needs achieve their full academic, social, and personal potential.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised learning support for students with a range of additional needs. We are looking to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting young people with complex learning needs, can build positive relationships, and is committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to students with Special Educational Needs
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and adapting resources to meet individual needs
- Support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and SEMH needs where appropriate
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and the development of social and emotional skills
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff and the wider support team
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes student wellbeing
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational or specialist setting is highly desirable
- Knowledge of a range of Special Educational Needs and effective support strategies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
