Vocational Teacher
Location: Hull
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent or long-term opportunity
GSL Education Hull are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Vocational Teacher to join a specialist school in Hull.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced vocational professional, teacher, instructor, or skilled practitioner who is passionate about supporting young people to develop practical skills, confidence, and the foundations they need for future employment and independence.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, practical and vocational learning experiences to students who may have faced barriers to education. You will play a key role in helping students discover their strengths, develop employability skills and achieve meaningful outcomes in a supportive and nurturing environment. (ECTS welcome)
Experience in areas such as construction, engineering, motor vehicle, hospitality, catering, land-based studies, design and technology hair and beauty, or another vocational subject would be highly desirable.
The Role as a Vocational Teacher you will:

Plan and deliver engaging vocational and practical lessons.

Support students to develop practical, employability and life skills.

Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH and additional needs.

Build positive and trusting relationships with students.

Encourage confidence, resilience and independence.

Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals.

Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Support students in preparing for future education, training or employment.
The Ideal Vocational Teacher:

Has experience working in a vocational, practical, educational or training environment.

Has a recognised teaching, training or vocational qualification, or significant industry experience.

Has experience working with young people or learners with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.

Is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.

Is patient, resilient and able to build strong professional relationships.

Can create engaging, practical and purposeful learning experiences.

Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
